Let us help you avoid wage garnishment

The deeper that you get into debt, the more serious the consequences become. One of the most serious is wage garnishment.

Ideally, you will be able to avert this ramification of your debt problems before it gets to this point. However, we understand our clients' reluctance to reach out for assistance in the early phases of financial distress. Even if your wages are already subject to garnishment, we may still be able to be of assistance.

You need to know and understand your rights regarding wage garnishment. For instance, you should know that your employer cannot fire you for having your wages garnished if this is your first garnishment. However, if this is your second or subsequent garnishment, your job may be in jeopardy.

Also, under the protections of the Consumer Credit Protection Act (CCPA), garnishments (at least those in the federal court system) can't exceed 25% of a debtor's weekly disposable earnings.

There are other restrictions regarding wage garnishments of which you should be aware. We always encourage our clients to learn as much as possible about all of their debt resolution options when they experience a financial crisis.

One of those options may be filing for bankruptcy under Chapter 7. This could potentially stop your wages from being garnished by your creditors. As in all things related to bankruptcy, however, your individual circumstances matter a great deal.

We know that having your wages garnished can be embarrassing and can adversely affect the quality of your life. We will work with you to arrive at the best solution to resolve your financial difficulties.
